Society for Prevention and Counteraction Against Addictions has been involved in smoking prevention programs and early counteraction since 2000. W run our programs in partnerships with The Ministry of Heath of the Republic of Poland, WHO - Country Office of Poland, EMCDDA, Chancellery of the President of The Republic of Poland, Chancellery of the Senate of The Republic of Poland, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Board, Municipality of Torun, Oncology Center in Warsaw, and 'Promotion of Health' Foundation. On a regular base we run training and prevention programs for medical service staff, education workers and local administration. We also train youth leaders (social activists). We are also experienced in organizing events. One of them was a 'Free from Smoke' Gala organized in 2008 (its agenda included information on prevention programs, awards for tobacco prevention activists and honors for social figures, scholars, media people and other celebrities - who are no-smokers and promote a healthy life style). Permanently, since 2000, we are run training programs dedicated to youth (e.g. Program of Youth Leaders of Health Promotion - 1800 leaders trained so far). We also run a Counseling Service for Smokers (therapeutic and medical information and personal support). We are active partners of the World's No Smoking Day, Quit Smocking Day and a country wide social campaign Quit Smoking With Us. We have organized 113 large happenings, 21 public debates, distribute thousands of free educational and informational printed resources on tobacco/smoking related issues. In August 2009, Ms Mariola Kasprzycka, President of the Society, expert and certified specialist in psychotherapy of addictions, participated in the Global Tobacco Control Leadership Program at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

All programs of the Society are accordant with European, National and Voivodeship addiction prevention strategies. In terms of methodology they are based on problem and epidemiology diagnosis. In terms of practice they base on proven prevention strategies. All programs are evaluated, monitored on a regular base. Our team consists of creative people, with significant experience and professional competence in addiction prevention, addiction therapy and tobacco control policy. For a long time we co-work with local and regional media and TV producers. The Society is a member of the European Network for Smoking Prevention and co-founder and member of the Polish Coalition 'Tobacco or Health', established in 2003, with HQ in Warsaw, and prof. Zatonski as President. The main goal of the Coalition is a tobacco control legislation enforcement, policy advocacy and reduction of negative effects of tobacco products consumption.
